What Is UV Resistant Fabric?
UV resistant fabric is a protective material for the human body to avoid excessive ultraviolet radiation. Commonly used fabrics include polyester silk spinning, pongee spinning, and five-hedral satin, which can prevent human skin from sunburn and aging. It’s really a perfect fabric to produce summer outdoor workout clothes and other apparel.
Background
Preventing ultraviolet rays from harming the human body has been valued by more and more consumers. Ultraviolet rays in the solar spectrum not only fade and embrittle textiles, but also cause sunburn and aging of human skin, resulting in melanin and stains. What’s more serious is that it can also induce cancer and endanger human health.
Ultraviolet rays have the most obvious impact on human skin and eyes. The skin’s absorption of ultraviolet light is related to its wavelength. The shorter the wavelength, the smaller the penetration depth into the skin, and the weaker the melanin deposition after irradiation; the longer the wavelength, the greater the penetration depth into the skin, and the stronger the melanin deposition after irradiation.
Due to the action of photochemical reactions, the high-energy photon stream can cause the denaturation of nuclear proteins and some enzymes in the cell. Therefore, after being irradiated by ultraviolet light, it takes 6-8 hours of incubation period before cell changes and symptoms appear, including dry skin pain, epidermal shrinkage, and even blistering and shedding.
Due to the weak penetration of ultraviolet rays to tissues, the deep tissues under the skin are less injured. However, severe ultraviolet rays can cause systemic reactions such as fatigue, low fever and lethargy. Some people’s skin is allergic to ultraviolet rays, and solar dermatitis (also known as sunburn) occurs after light exposure; the skin in the exposed area is itchy, tingling, skin scaling, and may also rupture and scab.
According to actual observations, in plateau areas with an altitude of 3,500 meters (ultraviolet rays are usually 3-4 times that of plain areas), if the skin is exposed to ultraviolet rays around noon for 20-40 minutes, the skin will feel burning and peeling; if lasting for 40-80 minutes, the skin will develop papule-like blisters and cause various lesions.
Fabric Standards
The harm of ultraviolet radiation to the human body has attracted more and more attention from countries all over the world. Countries such as Australia clearly require that student clothing have sun protection functions, and my country has also formulated textile anti-ultraviolet fabric standards.
Excessive ultraviolet radiation can cause burns on the human skin, and induce skin diseases and even skin cancer. It can also facilitate the formation of cataracts and reduce the body’s immune function.
1) Therefore, in order to protect the human body from excessive ultraviolet radiation, the textiles are finished with uv resistant fabric;
2) After finishing with uv resistant fabric, it is non-toxic, safe to human body, has no skin irritation, no allergic reaction, and does not affect the color, strength and moisture permeability of the fabric;
3) Polyester uv resistant fabric and nylon uv resistant fabric include peach skin pongee satin, etc.; UV-resistant umbrella surface fabric includes polyester spun pongee five-piece satin, etc.;
4) uv resistant fabric products: according to customer requirements, the sun protection index can reach UPF50+, and the ultraviolet shielding can reach 99%, which forms an excellent ultraviolet protection for the human body. Its quality is reliable and its reputation is guaranteed;
5)uv resistant fabric standard: AS/NZS4399:1996, UPF range protection grade 15-24 (good), 25-39 (very good), 40-50, 50+ (excellent).
Which Fabrics Can Protect Against UV Rays?
Sun protection shirts often use polyester and other chemical fibers as raw materials, and then the fabric is processed for sun protection, which will add a layer of anti-ultraviolet coating on the surface of the fabric to achieve the effect of shielding ultraviolet rays.
Pongee is more commonly used to produce suits, professional wear and other clothing. Its raw material is also polyester. In the production process, PU and PVC coatings are also added to the surface of the fabric to prevent ultraviolet rays. Of course, there are many types of pongee, which can be divided into three types: semi-elastic, full-elastic and full-elastic pongee.
The five-piece satin also has the function of anti-ultraviolet rays. The five-piece satin is also made of polyester and has a similar appearance to the satin fabric. The fabric has a bright luster, and the reverse side will have a matte finish. It is often used in tents, jackets and other products. At present, the price of five satin is also very low, the wholesale price per square meter is less than 10 yuan.
In fact, as long as it is not transparent or has a mesh, most fabrics will have the function of UV protection. In order to maximize the effect of UV protection, a UV protection coating is applied to the surface of the corresponding fabric during processing.
Crumpled Sunscreen Fabric
This fabric is made of 100% nylon. The fabric is relatively light and thin but has good sun protection. Its width is 150cm and the fabric is relatively transparent. You can choose single-layer or double-layer according to personal needs. The wholesale price of such fabric is 7.7 yuan per square meter.
